Have you ever seen an ad for an app that claims to allow you to earn real cash rewards simply by just playing mobile games? Well, I for sure have. These types of play to earn mobile apps are all over the place, and one of the question many ask is: "Are they legit?"

To answer that question, I decided to spend years testing out a handful of these apps to see if their claims are true, or if these apps are scams.

I will update this blog post more in the future, but to summarize my experience. Some of these apps are complete scams as to be expected, a few actually stick to their claims. Out of all of these apps that I've tried, only one of them remains on my mobile device to this day: Mistplay.

Mistplay, at least on Android, is simple to use, works with a wide variety of mobile games, and actually does pay. Now, don't be expecting a lot from this app. I've had, and used, Mistplay since March 4th of 2022, and since then I've earned a total of 24,189 units, which, in this app, 3,000 units is equal to $3. And so far, I've cashed out $15 to my Google Play account, and $50 to my Paypal account.

In addition to Misplay, I'm also currently testing out two other apps. Playio and Tapchamps. So far I've yet to cash out on either of them. Playio is simple and fun to use, like Misplay, and Playio even has cute mascots! However, I've had Playio since March 8th of 2023, and I've only earned 258 coins. To put this in perspective, the lowest payout on Playio is a $1 Amazon gift card, which requires 770 coins. Yeah, this app isn't looking promising.

Now, Tapchamps, on the other hand, doesn't have much going for it so far. First of all, the app is very slow. The app constantly freezes, making navigating the app a hassle. I only installed this app to earn from playing a tycoon game that isn't listed on Mistplay or Playio. Since installing the app on the 21st of August in 2024, I've earned 1,265 diamonds, and have yet to pay out since a payout of $5 costs 1,749 diamonds.

UPDATE: As of September 27th, 2024, I've managed to earn enough diamonds a $5 reward. I choose a $5 Google Play gift card. I received the email containing my reward on the same day in my scam/junk inbox, and redeemed it.

Mistplay: 29 months, $65, $2.24 per month

Playio: 17 months, nothing, no rewards per month

Tapchamps: 1 month, $5, $5 per month

As you can see, I earned the most in the shortest amount of time using Tapchamps. However, the experience of using this version of Tapchamps was not a fun one. If you want to try out Tapchamps, go ahead, it does offer some nice rewards, but just be prepared for constant app crashes and freezes.

So, overall, after trying tens of these "scam" get paid to play type apps, the least scamiest of them all, and one I still use to this day, is Mistplay. As always for apps I use, I will provide a referal link that will support me if you are interested in using the app yourself. For Mistplay, if you sign up with my referral link, and you will receive 100 bonus units on top of the 200 welcome units, and I will be able to collect extra units equal to 15% of the ongoing earning of the first 5 people to sign up with my link and hit checkpoint 5 in any game.

All my referral links can be found at the top of this article.
